OUR SELECTION
CASINO: Dense and very thorough, here's just one of the best films of the 90s. The Blu-Ray edition opens with a very nice trailer for the movie Cash (with Jean Dujardin), which sets the tone as proposed in DTS-HD Master Audio. The film sees presented in a harmonious way, with a dense image and stitched, seductive, marked silver grain. Visual level, Casino is a perpetually renewed delight, a delight at all times. In light of Richardson, scholarly publication that anchor the characters in a fictional universe visual, readable and interpretable in these parts of overexposed shots that come up at key moments of the story, and knows also establish a connection with reality danced coldest objectivity and gives his' documentary power at any movie and the narration, has an aura that is almost beyond the simple framework of the film and is required on very much as the filmmaker's aesthetic matrix. The definition is crafted to the possible and works with contrasts pests that continually refine the compositions and choice of frame, and formidable ... absolutely perfect. The stall that opens the film colors (pink, red and ocher, and extremely hot with flames of generic anthology) is reproduced with a color stability worthy of the finest editions. More moire, more jitter ... encoding imposes a constant density of all the visual elements that make up the film and his technique. It's a shame a degree of definition sometimes a little "fair" and that sometimes a tendency to grind the surface of the image to give a more polished feel. This is probably due to compression of the management ... Anyway, the film was never shown in a video copy worthy of the name. Without a doubt the best presentation of the film to date. Saturation copy without dribbling colors (it is by far the LD NTSC!). The track DTS-HD Master Audio (VO recommended, but available VF) proves optimal, with increased sense of finesse and a very welcome spatial sharpness, which contrast with the previous DVD editions. A significant overall quality, which requires to raise the decibels to enjoy it.
The soundtrack Casino is unusual: it is both the origin of the story (the film is built on a gigantic retrospective, introspective and analeptic referred to, which is attended even the characters missing in transit ) and its condition of existence. The voices blend together, like an opera where the souls of the characters haunt the scene. In addition, each plot of Casino immersed in a maelstrom of American hits perpetually renewed. Absolute counterpoint to the visual form of the film, the soundtrack and draws all its circumscribed limits. Without it, the film is not with it, the film exists and is embodied in its own space-time dimension. So a centerpiece, a heap of anthology film in its approach. The soundtrack Casino is in this respect a fundamental element of the story. Mixed by the great Skip Lievsay, the soundtrack does not yet benefit from technical prowess ... rather, it lurks in a certain conformism but manages to evoke what she has to talk with an accuracy of tone and character that is not alien to nature, even the film's success. The stage front is very active, very elaborate in terms of "surround triphonic" and disseminates critical information (because it is information, before anything else: key dialogues, music etc ...) through detailed panoramic sound who do not hesitate to be relayed by the rear speakers.
Some figures of speech complete set realistic and rich in various sound environments: casino, desert, basements, etc. .... Thus, some explosions and gunfire, as this sequence very successful banging illustrating leaks and cover-ups come Nicki Santoro broaden the scope of evocation. The dynamics are rather playful and recording (though dated 1995) of the most relevant: the sounds mentioned do not seem over-compressed and draw a soundstage that has all the flavor of truth. A complex sound composition and density in its anthology in one formal approach, like this introduction sequence that combines the musical theme of Godard's Contempt (by George Delerue), a rock song in the background and wind noise blowing in the desert (the place of appointment) while at the screen, a car launched at high speed scrolls from right to left in the eye of Robert de Niro. Casino is bathed in moments like this, rare and precious. The soundtrack of the film focuses tension on the screen while expanding the moral landscape, evocative music, violent, noisy within which the dramatis personae. Sort of tragic opera film that requires sound accompaniment and sonic and musical interacted. By itself, the soundtrack (ore) embodies the film and stands out as its condition of existence.
KUNG FU PANDA Animated Film at how successful Kung Fu Panda comes in our selection, and offers a great experience in high definition. Requires digital image source, the presentation is shown full HD 1080p simply perfect, offering a range of colors and stunning color. The soundtrack is proposed that "in" Dolby True HD (need to crank up the volume, as on almost all titles from Paramount), but roared with pleasure at times sensational efficiency. The only regret is not necessarily a cut back with onions, less extensive than in other securities (density behind the scene), but it is only a tiny flat in view of the services offered. A reference, in no doubt, as at this beautiful escape sequence: a top image and sound, without a doubt ....
THE INN EPAGNOLE + Russian Dolls: Two of our soundtracks ... bedside reference. Rarely mixes will have reached such perfection, both artistically and technically. The six channels are permanently employed, and will broadcast a sound first class. Dynamic, robust, solid and removed, the soundstage is often anthology shows. Mixing Dominique Dalmasso, on two films, proves absolutely delightful, offering sonic textures and perspectives that sticks in the ear. Difficult to imagine without hearing in 5.1 ... especially these two films were mixed in 6.1. Do not hesitate to force your amplifier DTSNéo: 6 to enjoy it as it should. The generic Russian Dolls still retains our attention, and it will be the same in the film, for the sequence in a nightclub or the many musical sequences. Unquestionably, two Blu-ray editions to own at all costs, forthwith.
