S YNOPSIS
Fringe is an American television series co-created by JJ Abrams, Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci. The series features the Fringe Division Team, a section of the FBI based in Boston, Massachusetts (USA) and overseen by the NSA. This team uses what is called in English the "fringe science" - literally, "marginal science" - to investigate unexplained phenomena and strange across the country. These phenomena are designated as part of "project". The series is described as a cross between X-Files, The Outer Limits, Twilight Zone and Dark Angel 1.
PRESS KIT
Fringe follows the adventures of FBI Special Agent Olivia Dunham, the mad scientist Walter Bishop and his son jack of all Peter Bishop as they investigate aspects of marginal science: rare diseases, cryptozoology, transhuman with psychic abilities, teleportation, etc.. Around the world, a series of experiments collectively the "Project" occur for no apparent reason. Dunham, Peter and Walter have a mission to investigate these events to determine the source. The multinational Massive Dynamic, a leading company in research and high technology, is closely related to the project while his enemy, ZFT bioterrorist cell, orchestrates all kinds of experiences to prepare for the technological singularity. At the heart of the struggle between these two factions is a nootropic called Cortexiphan, developed by Walter Bishop and his former partner, William Bell, and that was used to treat several children, including Dunham ...
This is the fourth series created by Abrams - after Felicity, Alias and Lost - and his third collaboration with Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman (Transformers, Star Trek, Mission: Impossible III and Alias). It is produced by Warner Bros. / Bad Robot. Unlike his other series, Lost, JJ Abrams promises that the story arc will be easier to follow and more accessible to those who are not diligent in the series. She speaks of a researcher named Walter Bishop (described by Orci as "Frankenstein mixed with Albert Einstein"), his son, and a special FBI agent who will collect them through a special branch of the FBI led by a certain Broyles. The series is presented as a cross between X-Files X-Files, The Outer Limits and The Twilight Zone with which it shares the same inconsistencies and large strings (a pinch of World Trade Center, parallel dimensions and mad scientists). The series, as several previous series Abrams, is created on the basis of a dominant mythology.
FOX has launched a television campaign aimed to identify viewers a recurring character, "The Observer", discreetly appearing in every episode of the series.
BLU-RAY: TECHNICAL FACTS
Warner presents the JJ Abrams series with its traditional browser interface. Thus, upon insertion of a disc, the series starts so sudden, without warning ... The problem posed by this navigation, for which the main menu has been disabled (it will be accessible only when support of the POP-UP MENU key), appears very quickly: navigation somewhat optimal, which requires you to press the pop-up menu to access each episode and its title. Chaptering proves achieved in spite of common sense whatsoever, even painful to use, he makes leaps of 30 minutes each time, and does not proceed to the next episode so enjoyable. When pressing on the "extras", the viewer is referred to a sub menu, as episodes related content. Supplements will show short and brief for the most part, with the exception of audio commentaries. Some episodes are lacking, the titles of these supplements are recurrent throughout the saga.

Warner, France, Availability: November 2009
The twenty episodes into account that this first season are presented in 1080p, 1.78:1 format. Overall, not much to fault the image section, which is very relieved: sharp definition, beautiful color range between the episodes, exposure and brightness ideal ... It is clear, sharp images, dense, and stitched, which evoke very quickly the High Definition. Some flats will do, however, the point of generating some frustration: the presence of a large granularity on numerous night sequences or underexposed. This betrays the nature film images, of course, but very quickly turns to mashed peas or digital noise (apparitions of strange white dots and lines on some shots). Significant discomfort anyway, which is rather surprising. But overall, it's hard not to succumb to the density of images, and their stability.
Overall, the picture proposed here completely captivated, and offers optimum readability, far from what was visible when it was broadcast on TNT HD on channel TF1. The definition is more extensive, the first net-plans and defined, and that sense of sweetness that sometimes dominated the broadcast HDTV here leaves room for dense images and recorded, as to reveal some errors (it is really?) focus / focus. A telling example, which illustrates the capabilities of Blu-Ray on this title: When the first meeting between e and Olivia Walter, when an episode, note the adjustment of focus. The development takes place live on the characters' faces, which pass gradually from a certain vagueness to focus more accomplished in seconds. The VC-1 codec, combined with the precision of the transfer, does not erase this, and can lay bare the heart images. This pilot episode, brilliantly staged, for its part allows to appreciate the formal elegance shown by the staging of the series. It recovers, on the occasion of his time on Blu-Ray, a visual magnitude and precision out of proportion. Dense images and precise, rigorous, rich in color grading (by internal or external) and varied. A great success, as long as we pass on some less successful aspects.

DOLBY DIGITAL 5.1: English (640 Kbps)
2.0 French, Spanish, Italian ...
16 Bit, 48 Khz
OFFSET: 0 dB
BITRATE: n / a
The editor has, however, not corrected this issue over the area ... A lack of uncompressed audio track is often sorely felt, even if the publisher is not the most prompt on the land, its Dolby True HD differing only very few tracks in Dolby Digital standard ... Here we have to settle for the latter format, presented as 640 Kbps (constant) on the entire saga, and only in the original. The mixer offers a very conventional management of the soundstage, as is often the case on television series, the soundstage is not particularly worked because of budget constraints that differ from the cinema. Recall also that a television series is brought to be multiplexed and for distribution on the air, resulting in a significant reduction in the bandwidth given to her ... Of course, the sound designers working with talent and passion, and it is more iconoclastic sound effects, colorful, and sometimes violent universe acoustic series that will be highlighted in the center of the soundstage. Even if it does not roar as much as hoped, it lacks any major, showing a nice dynamic, and cleanliness at the frequency response that is very clearly before in many details, until the subwoofer channel, operated sporadically with nice depth. Dynamic comely, raised stage frontal and sharp, cutting space often effective if not innovative ... the grand finale, after all the technical conditions are rather positive forget the absence, unforgivable, said lossless audio codec.
Nevertheless, the editor, for once, did not include offset (dialogue normalization) on this soundtrack. Exit the -4 dB (or more) usual, imposed by the editor, which allows you to discover the series without having to play with his remote control to raise the decibel level at the start of diffusion. This conventional 5.1 track even manages to offer more volume and presence that Dolby True HD the latest Harry Potter, by the same publisher ... The first four episodes enjoy a strong momentum, and exploit the scene back significantly : explosions, music, atmosphere ... The other episodes do not enjoy the same comfort, and offer almost nothing on the back. However, the overall dynamics proves sharp, so that it can be said here that this series is one of the nicest surprises from the publisher acoustic field, for a long time ... The short generic lacks any major, and the voices of the characters show themselves fully and completely, a (really) good place for a television series. The front displays a nice balance, and propels a luxury sound and acoustic information, which are conspicuous by their clarity and natural. Very surprising for a Dolby Digital standard. Dress a certain stature acoustic rendering offered here with a very good frequency response, highs that spin (unlike all the publisher's titles ...) and a medium area never packed but still relevant. A success.
CONTROVERSY
Where the bottom hurts singularly, and gives rise to a great controversy, it is the ghostly presence of a proposed soundtrack in French version. According to our colleagues www.blurayenfrancais.com, and from the comments left by visitors with the kit, some copies of it would be totally devoid of VF said. Nothing (or almost) seems to have been taken ... at least for now ... The identifiers of faulty boxes and boxes of those proposing the VF are absolutely identical ... In other words, upon purchase, it is quite You may find yourself with a copy of this kit without French version. A "lottery" inexcusable, that could well turn severely against the publisher in early holiday season ... and who reported a lack of rigor inexcusable. Of course, nothing beats a listen in the original, particularly as the French version is invisible proposed that ... Dolby Digital 2.0, as ... ... 192 Kbps Subtitles for their part, are indeed present. Until we know more, we wanted to share with you this unprecedented blunder in Blu-Ray region B, from a publisher yet very active. At last, it 'appears' (to be taken lightly) that versions of box trail was not VF emanate online shops. Of course, this is perhaps a curious coincidence .... that we can confirm ...
