W e have just learn it (thank you to Gregory Travassac via Facebook). Warner had not warned us, and we did not investigate more than reason, knowing the habits of the editor on reissues. Where we expected to just Dolby True HD 5.1 in the luxury edition (Ultimate Edition) of the first two games of the saga for the holiday season, Warner has finally opted for a soundtrack encoded DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 (Vo only), instead of the previous proposed runway to PCM 5.1. We do not currently know more in terms of speed or setting (16 or 24 Bit?). We will try to get a copy of the editor to look into the matter.

The first two films, namely Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone and The Chamber of Secrets, two soundtracks mixed and created by Randy Thom (originally proposed in 5.1 eX in theaters and on DVD) will therefore be eligible for a cure of youth technically, at least until proven otherwise. No remixing or remastering does seem he was expected, just re-encoding which hopefully will leverage the benefits of the codec DTS-HD Master Audio. To date, no website has not (yet) the chronicle. These editions, presented in boxes very smart, and sleep are already available in stores.

It is therefore quite logical to expect a repeat of the saga, complete with the same specifications in terms of its tracks. For the record, the latest installment in the saga date, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, has just been released for sale, and offers a Dolby True HD 5.1, while effective, very disappointing ... Of course, the versions doubled, the French, are proposed, Warner requires, that simple Dolby Digital 5.1 (640 kbps) ...

UPDATE (09/10/2009): the film version of the film is available in DTS-HD Master Audio 6.1 (a first for Warner), while the long version it is presented in DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1. It's the same on both films.
