T Spielberg film, long awaited blue format was announced for release by Paramount Blu-Ray (double disc) on April 20. Therefore an important date, marking a milestone, as the technical data arise in absolute stooge. Judge for yourself: the master image is from a 4K master, himself from a source 6K 100% digital, which allowed a thorough job of retouching and corrections. The company LaserPacific worked for weeks in post-production, to 'restore' or rather 'amplify' the work of the filmmaker and his cinematographer Janusz Kaminski appointed. Indeed, the film received, from its conception and its release in 2002, developed by Technicolor ENR process, which hardens the overall contrast, reduces the apparent saturation, and revive the film grain.
According LaserPacific, the level of detail obtained from the scan has shown in 4K on some amazing scenes, with a highlighting of details previously invisible (in the words of Kaminski). Using the calibration software Baselight, developed by FilmLight, and some via plugins, The Foundry, Lou Levinson LaserPacific is indeed able to manipulate colors scene after scene, but also the degree of grain, without altering anything whatsoever. Besides, Spielberg himself, and Kaminski, have worked on this singular project, evidence of a commitment.
Good news never comes alone (normally, ed), Paramount / Dreamworks, in charge of the edition of this title, has recently confirmed the choice of audio codec lossless DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1, instead the one developed by Dolby, used previously, mainly by the publisher. A more symbolic choice, we can only welcome.
