The Twentieth Century Fox has just confirmed the arrival at fdormat Blu-Ray and HD restored the film by Robert Wise classic of classics, The Sound of Music. Available for future year-end holidays, the film will be based in its original 70mm (produced entirely in Todd AO), and no doubt, presented in terms of the soundtrack in DTS -HD Master Audio 5.1 (Vo only), enough to give a boost to the sublime music of timeless Rodgers and Hammerstein.
Already available on DVD, and armed with solid extras, this Blu-Ray edition, about which no one knows yet nothing at all, should be subject to new content created for the event. A French edition of Zone B would of course be edited at the same time
The events narrated in the play occur shortly before the Second World War in Austria, at the time of the Anschluss. In Austria, Maria is a young woman who is preparing to become a nun in a Benedictine abbey located in Salzburg (Nonnberg Abbey). His convent sends as governess of seven children in the family of a widower, Captain Georg Ritter von Trapp. At first, children are hostile and mischievous. It is good, while teaching them the song. Soon, she serves as their friend and confidante. The captain, meanwhile, attends a Baroness in order to find a mother for her children. The arrival of this unorthodox housekeeper led him to reconsider his feelings vis-à-vis the Baroness. This, however, does not see this situation favorably and encouraged to leave Maria von Trapp family. Back at the convent, after several days of prayer, the abbess will make him understand that carnal love can not be extinguished by the simple prayer. Subsequently, the Captain and Maria confess their love.
Singing lessons from Maria have so borne fruit, as the uncle of the family placed the Trapp family singing at a concert to be held in Salzburg. All these events occur when the Nazis came to power in Austria. Back from Honeymoon with Maria, the Captain learns that he must return to duty in the Navy, but refuses to participate in the war. He began preparations for flight to save his family from the destruction.
