The French publisher we spoke regularly decided to move up a gear in terms of its video editions on Blu-Ray. The market is now more mature, and the coefficient of HD penetration more marked, the publisher can afford to offer more editions encoded in High Definition. For most, these titles provided in this fall will benefit from restored picture and sound masters. Classics are on the program. Here is the complete list of publications for that stretch from September to December next:
- October 6: The World on the wire by Rainer Werner Fassbinder (DVD and Blu-ray)
- November 3: Frank Borzage in three movies. (Box 3 DVD or Blu-ray unit: The Supreme Time, Angel Street and The Detached)
- November 18: Jeannot the intrepid Jean Image (Combo Blu-ray + DVD)
- December 1: FW Murnau in two films (Box 2 Blu-ray and DVD collector per unit: Dawn and City Girl)
These films will benefit from 1080p master image, the format for most 1.33. In terms of soundtracks, they will be offered in DTS-HD Master Audio 2.0 (monaural), lossless (s). Great news for the most authentic film buffs, allowing them to rediscover, among others, the classics of Murnau (among the finest works in the history of cinema) in a unique quality.
