Originally shot in Super Panavision 70, ie on 65mm film to be screened in 70mm then in theaters, Tron, made in 1982, has always offered an imposing visual anthology, as long as the starting material (70mm film preserved and projected film library for example) or from the original masters. However, on VHS, Laserdisc and DVD then, the results varied completely, from the anecdotal to the acceptable (DVD). With his frame so special, special effects embedded in the flesh of his images, the film has already arisen as an object of genuine curiosity. This edition Blu-Ray, which coexists with the publication in 2D and 3D Honourable its sequel, the images are also incredible, straightens the bar permanently, and offers image quality that we call willingly arsonist subject to any form of controversy. The impact of the footage in the real world shows striking: 70mm format offers a unique depth of field, which is dear to film buffs also able to appreciate it (and still dreaming now) on other productions mixes from this type of film: Lawrence of Arabia, or even 2001, A Space Odyssey. Detailed, accurate, granular precisely, it will impact the leaves so bright light (no pun intended), and allows a particular depth in the image, a profound and sublime at a time. Rediscover its legendary faces of actors (Bruce Boxleitner or Jeff Bridges) dan broad frames, rigorous and detailed to the extreme is (almost) the unexpected miracle. Disney production the more aestheticized in its time, the film has never lost its splendor for a whole generation of moviegoers and videophiles, and it's a safe bet that this edition Blu-Ray is emerging as a new benchmark for which grew up with this film pioneer, founder, memorable.

The color balance, and their depth on the screen explodes into a myriad of details, while the degree of finish of the image, its accuracy, mark the retina in a new way of supporting domestic. A total rediscovery and literal, which gives a whole new youth film Steven Lisberger, and the AVC codec sublime everywhere. The sequences located within the virtual world, if they remain sublime, however, accuse the weight of years, but leu This pioneering and innovative loses none of its force. The gain stability and general elegance almost beyond comprehension. Success across the board.

And it will be the same for the sound reproduction of the film, who is here to propose a spatial legibility anthology and a surround presence that is sure to surprise any (many) more experienced. 70mm format offered in his time, a presence pentaphonique front: behind the screen is nested five sound sources, with its center in the central channel devoted to dialogue, and both sides of this channel "C" two speakers side, a right and extreme right, one left and extreme left. A final channel surround sound architecture completed six channels. This canal was proposed in mono, stereo where now governs the bow back. The grand finale, six channels were offered, with a reinforcement of stability on the frontal arc, and requested an extension usually copiously on the back of the room, which included all the spectators, the rear side walls. This spatial configuration has built rendering surround sound in theaters, then into our homes as we know it today. Tron, in his time, already had a sensational six-channel mixer, which increased tenfold the visual experience while extending the physical boundaries of the cinema. This concept of his show, Disney has always emphasized since Fantasia (1940), which already opened the doors of a technical report noise exceeding the customary framework, called "Fantasound".

Disney now offers Tron conditions rave sound. Point made in 7.1 as usual in the editor, which offers discounts and remixes in exceptional space since the arrival of Blu-Ray and uncompressed digital audio. The film is granted a 5.1 (six channel) that opens the sound field and maximally maximized. At no time do we surround rendering suspections also grown, especially since the first reviews of the U.S. edition Blu-Ray put forward a sound "dated", but never really effective persuasive. But for our part, we confess we have been literally blasted by the presence of almost embarrassing scene back, and the spatial coherence of the ensemble, which uses all channels in a quasi-permanent, while offering uncompressed requires This touch feeling and fluid that characterizes the best editions. From the very first moments, the sound space is seen invaded by a multitude of acoustic ripples that make up an explosive soundscape, radiant and incredibly open. Consistency between the speakers, rendering physical proportions, the staging area and sounds evocative highs, while providing an accurate all devils. This is a new awakening to the film is suggested here, so could not be more convincing. The sound design also applies to sound the same motives and geometrical rectilinear its basic images. Thus, it is possible to note, on the frontal arc, traveling very fast / stealthy left to right, while the same trajectory is applied to the rear channels, in reverse. Consistently, the ear is sought, and the visual world unfolds on all channels, so sometimes panoramic, sometimes attacking, sometimes delirious with games communication between sounds very sophisticated broadcasters (your speakers) placed on both either side of the listening space.

Every detail sound retains its clarity, front and rear, and the sound is pure speed, one speaker to another, when sequences of games or races. It is fascinating to discover, at the same time as the characters, new spaces, visually, of course, but also sound. Just close your eyes, in many occasions, only to be identified at 360 ° without ever getting lost in an environment. Somehow, the sound becomes a vision, and acoustics applied to the film audiovisiogène. The frequency response gives a very pleasant mediums, rich and strong in flavor, without ever neglecting the ends of the spectrum. The area acute / high shows himself detailed and precise, without defect, and it will be the same for the serious, deep and rich, with regular raids unsuspected, leaving almost on the floor. The sound universe described by the film do not exist in reality, the work of editing and mixing sound is the pure creation of the source (sound effects, atmospheres) in its distribution / existence in space (atmosphere, reverbs ...). Animated, wide and spacious, with volumes (matter and space) often staggering, this soundtrack all active channels in an invasive manner, and bases its authority into the reproduction of electronic music, pulsating with desire, which benefits from an expanded and enhanced stereo, and a presence on all the channels that borders the demonstration. An attentive ear will highlight certain musical forms and some acoustic designs that have, without doubt, inspired the Daft Punk in their composition of the memorable soundtrack after the film. Velocity and penetration of sounds are optimal, so that made the 5.1 Surround, to really push the spatialization, reactive listening to the viewer the sensation of listening worthy of the discovery of multi-channel sound.

We remain cautious on the silence of our fellow North Americans about the benefits offered by sound. Dimension enjoyed this mix actually reaches highs, finally rarely heard, especially for a work dated. Ultimate proof that the work for tone, made in 1982, has shown great demand. His reincarnation technique, in 2011, will leave lasting impressions, especially as the codec DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 and wife each form proposed by arabesques sound mixing, never weaken rendering, or fall in the level of compromise audio bitrate. A sparkly surprise, that our ratings, below, will highlight. Diapason d'Argent.

This work of modest proportions is offered a transfer on Blu-Ray quite reasonable. The images remain sharp and readable, but it will however somewhat less convincing in terms of contrast rendition. Shades urban grisaillantes Boston and its environs to borrow considerably Mystic River by Clint Eastwood. Little bursts of sunshine, no light solar openly, and this sense of enclosure which is so becoming to gender and the mood the film depicts honorably. Overall, the definition is sometimes over extensive, often suitable. Color temperature, necessarily limited, sometimes pleasant tones displayed indoors, strongly reproduced by this transfer to be qualified standard, and that takes maximum advantage of its starting material.

Acoustic rendering whole remains just honest, which influence on the frontal axis dialogues and other urban situations in which people bathe. No real opening, dimensionless marked more than reason, the film navigates through a surround made to narrow proportions but not limited, helped by the codec DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 which, despite a sound starting material qualifiable of thin, unspectacular, manages to maximize sound reproduction, and to instill realism and 'common véhiculatoires' certain musical lines. 5.1 will show the size, we have said, confined and restricted, with a further dynamic sometimes, but often just to even out the film's minimalist basis. The frequency response does not constitute either a reference area with its medium slowed modestly, rather flaccid and his exploration of the audible spectrum.

Joe Buck is a Texan who goes to New York to test his charms gigolo. He quickly loses his illusions and, penniless, became acquainted with Ratso Rizzo, a sickly and also be completely helpless. They will share their miserable lot in the slums of New York. The pathetic story of an unusual friendship.

Masterpiece among the masterpiece, the brilliantly offbeat and memorable Midnight Cowboy (Midnight Cowboy), John Schlesinger, will be edited by Blu-Ray by FPE (Fox / MGM) on 15 June in our zone B French . X-rated United States, and also rare decision for a single non-pornographic movie, Midnight Cowboy was the first title and classified to receive the Oscar for Best Picture (he also received the Oscar for best director and best screenplay the same year, 1970). Signed John Barry, the great music of the film should take advantage of the encoding DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 which will benefit the film for its release in high definition. The previous DVD edition, encoded in a simple Dolby Digital 5.1, proposed a soundstage complex and relatively reasonably multidimensional, which amplified the axes of some hair-raising musical sequences, and detailed the sound effects in the film like never before, and granted a free acoustic allowed each sequence live on stage front while breathing on the way back.

In this sense, the famous and eternal song Everybody's Talkin Harry Nilsson signed that opens the film benefits from a previously inaudible dimension, with strong rhythmic and detailed. I bet that this edition further enhances the HD level, and also allows the images madly inspired cinematographer Adam Holender to shine like never before. List of supplements still unknown, but the price should make people happy: 14.99 Euros. What discover or rediscover this essential work, often highly significant in conditions worthy of the name.

This will in effect on June 28 that Metropolitan, holder of the exploitation of films in the trilogy on video in our green lands offer a case involving the special editions of each title. The same line as the technical and editorial foreign editions will put each film will be cut and proposed on two Blu-Ray 50GB, so as to enhance the encoding and not to apply filters too destructive compression. The image will be valued as well, it goes without saying, but it also seems important to keep in mind that this edition will cut each soundtrack to shine brightly, and avoid suffering, too, the wrath of compression. Finally note that the first installment of the saga, strongly criticized at the output of single editions on Blu-Ray ago nearly a year, will be re-encoded (remastered from the master 2K) to correct the firing.

Each soundtrack is presented in its native 6.1 mix (exploited in theaters), encoded in DTS-HD Master Audio at 24 KHz and 48 Bit (VO and, until proven otherwise, also French version). The result has to be amazing, we do not doubt it. For the record, that during the Special Editions DVD editions, each soundtrack was encoded in DTS ES 6.1 Discrete, but only in mid-flow (Kbps 754.75 to be exact, fixed-rate). These future editions will enhance all, to remove traces of compression, and especially (but hope) to forget the wild réégalisation which had been applied (until proven otherwise), with the settlement of certain beaches frequency, which generated a sound often dry and emaciated.

Impossible to know whether these future soundtracks resume the already effective proposals Blu-Ray (simple edition) already available. 15 discs will be present in the cabinet, a mixture of Blu-Rays and DVDs. Bring together these supplements, available in 16/9, which will in all respects identical to those of DVD Collector's editions. All in all, about 26 hours of supplements will be offered in this case decidedly expected.

PJ Hogan signed in 2003 a work absolutely exceptional: rich implications of psychoanalytic say, the interpretation of high-flying (Jason Isaacs in a dual role Freudian, and Tinkerbell played by our national Ludyvine Sagnier), the performing arts, a wealth of lightning, no one had apparently he came come. Already available in Europe in recent years (published by Sony), Peter Pan offers a Dolby True HD (below 16 Bit, limited in speed to 1600 Kbps) allowing enough to uncover the equally outstanding work and sound design by Gary Rydstrom. To date, we see again and again to the editor that this is one of montage and mixing 6.1 (the film was mixed in Dolby Digital EX 6.1 matrixed and operated that way in theaters) the most surprising the last ten years. Soundscape with his high fly, its rich frequency response, and heightened creativity of certain sequences of the film in terms of its exploitation of multichannel land, often flirting with the "never heard of the kind" ( multiple scenes with the crocodile), the soundtrack of Peter Pan manages to show overwhelming and subtle at once, combining perfectly the creative contribution of an extraordinary artist, and requirements / technical possibilities of multichannel sound .

It is therefore important not to be fooled by the childish atmosphere of this tale. Putting in images and sounds truly reached the summits, this edition Blu-Ray Zone A (logically region-free), proposed this time by Universal, is expected to exceed the track via DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1, 24 Bit, offering a bitrate doubled compared to the European edition. Hard to believe without testing, however, a higher audio bitrate being no sign of an overall thinning of the minutes of the soundtrack, but it's a safe bet that this year at low cost becomes the benchmark for this beautiful film, strong, real UFO in the film of 2003, which surprised the world, including almost the entire French press.

Until now available in many countries on Blu-Ray, with the exception of the United States, that we learn the arrival of the film The Island of Micahel Bay, in North America then. This new edition, a first for this title on the American territory, will be equipped with an audio track encoded in DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1, a real novelty since the editions available to date that the film did not offer simple Dolby Digital standard. 640 Kbps is its ridiculously showed expressionless, and his dynamic, yet wondrous in theaters, saw himself drowned, planed, retouched, in short, inaudible and particularly flat during Dantesque action sequences that make the charm of this film finally apocalyptic strong formally very successful for canning to Michael Bay.

Zero doubt that this title will be free from zoning. Three featurettes and audio commentary will complement this edition lacks any ambition other than to fill a "missing" among fans of the filmmaker. Perhaps a detail: its release date, set for June 21, ... which will correspond to the theatrical release of third installment of the saga Transformers, Transformers: Dark of the Moon the same director. A classic of the musical, from the catalog of MGM, Fiddler on the roof is also invited on Blu-Ray (zone A), tomorrow, April 5. As was the case with The Sound of Music or Rocky Horror Picture Show (Fox two titles), the soundtrack has been redesigned and remixed in 7.1, is adding two additional surround channels. The musical from the golden age seems to celebrate and causes, or almost every time, technical prowess in terms of sound, remixing each involving 7.1 more work, even if the overall results indicate discrete , does not denaturing the musical intensity or sound balance I looked at the original mix of the film. The output in Zone B of the film is also scheduled in Zone B, and le25 take place next May in the same technical conditions, in EPF.
